These "incidents" are always disturbing, of course. Especially when it involves more than one kid (ala Jonesboro). With one you can always assume a pathological cause. But two or more connotes planning and a failure of the checks and balances of normal societal behavior (as in at least one of a group of, say, two, having a grasp of right and wrong or if not that at least an awareness of consequences.)

A lot of Reggae songs use the generic "John Brown" to refer to the police, as in the theme to "Cops" ("Bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do when Sheriff John Brown comes for you"). Can anyone tell me the justification for permitting the public to possess automatic weapons? They simply are not recreational guns. No deer hunter requires it or desires such a weapon. They are military weapons.
The fact is that our political system has created a generation of wimps who value their perks and fear the NRA. As a result, you can't get a law through Congress restricting the sale of these weapons to the general public in spite of the fact that eighty per cent of the population favors such a ligislation.
